Glossary

Warehouse software is full of words that mean something specific. This is what each of them means in Fiftify.

Product — something you hold. One record per thing you stock, with a SKU, a price, a cost, and a weight. See the products list.

Listing — something a channel sells. It comes from Shopify, eBay, Amazon, or Etsy, and carries that channel’s title, price, and quantity. A variant arrives as its own listing. See the listings list.

Linking — attaching a listing to the product it sells, so one pile of stock can sit behind several storefronts. See link a listing to a product.

SKU — your code for a product. The identifier everything downstream keys off: matching, picking, counting, purchase orders.

Barcode — the code printed on the item itself, scanned on the floor.

On hand — everything physically in the bin, whatever it is promised to.

Available — what can still be sold: on hand minus committed minus unavailable.

Committed — units promised to orders already placed but not yet picked.

Unavailable — units you hold that cannot be sold: damaged, quarantined, reserved for something else.

Incoming — units on a purchase order that has been marked as ordered but not yet received. Expected, not countable.

Allocation needed — stock in a warehouse that has not been assigned to any bin. Counted, but nobody can be told where to find it.

Track Qty — whether Fiftify counts a product at all. Off for made-to-order and drop-shipped goods.

Oversell — whether a channel may keep selling past zero.

Warehouse — a building. Stock, orders, and tasks are scoped to one.

Zone — an area within a warehouse with a purpose: receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, staging, returns, damaged.

Bin — the smallest addressable place stock sits. Its code is built from the zone, aisle, rack, level, and position. See bins and bin codes.

Pick face — the bin a picker actually walks to, as opposed to bulk storage behind it.

Tote — a container a picker fills and hands to packing. See totes and containers.

Location — a channel’s idea of where stock sits. Locations are mapped to warehouses; unmapped ones do not sync. See channel settings and locations.

Task — one piece of warehouse work. Pick, pack, ship, receive, put away, replenish, transfer, cycle count. See task queues and assignment.

Pick — taking units off shelves for an order.

Pack — putting picked units into a parcel and getting a label.

Ship — handing the parcel to a carrier.

Receive — counting a delivery in.

Put away — moving received goods onto their shelves.

Replenish — topping a pick face up from bulk. See replenishment.

Batch — several picks walked together in one trip. See batch picking.

Short pick — a bin holding fewer units than the task expected. See short picks and other problems.

Hold — a task paused part-way. Not in anybody’s queue until a person returns to it.

Cross-dock — routing arriving goods straight into picking, skipping put-away, when an open order is already waiting on them.

Sales order — a customer’s purchase, arriving from a channel. Numbered SO-0001 by default.

Purchase order — what you send a supplier. Numbered PO-0001 by default. See create a purchase order.

Supplier — somebody you buy from, with a lead time, an MOQ, and a tax rate.

Lead time — days from placing an order to the goods arriving.

MOQ — minimum order quantity, per SKU.

Transfer — stock moving between your own warehouses. Numbered TR-0001 by default. See transfers.

Cycle count — a check of a handful of bins without stopping the warehouse. See cycle counts.

Carrier — the company that moves the parcel. Connected as an account so labels can be bought.

Package type — one of the boxes or mailers on your packing bench, with its dimensions and empty weight. See package types.

Delivery method — carrier shipment, local delivery, or store pickup.

Print template — the layout of anything Fiftify puts on paper: bin labels, SKU labels, packing slips. See print templates and labels.

Owner — the account that created the company. The only one with billing and company ownership.

Role — a bundle of permissions with a name. See roles and permissions.

Days of cover — how long current stock lasts at the current rate of sale. The unit the low-stock and overstocked signals are measured in. See insights and stock signals.
