How fulfillment works

An order that arrives from a sales channel does not stay a document for long. Fiftify turns it into work on the warehouse floor, one stage at a time.

Order arrives  →  PICK  →  PACK  →  SHIP  →  In transit

Each stage is a task, and each task lives in its own queue under Tasks in the sidebar: Pick, Pack, Ship.

The important part is that you never create the next task yourself. Completing one step creates the next:

• Completing a pick creates the pack task for that order.
• Completing a pack creates the ship task.

That is also why the queues can look empty on a quiet day and fill up the moment orders land — the work flows in from the previous stage rather than from a person.

Pick — a picker walks the aisles and takes the ordered units out of their bins. Fiftify tells them the exact bin for every line, and the count leaves that bin’s stock when the pick completes.

Pack — a packer puts the picked units into one or more packages, sets the weight, picks a shipping service, and buys or prints a label.

Ship — the packed shipment is handed to the carrier (or the customer, for local pickup) and marked as gone. From that point the order tracks as in transit.

Each stage maps to a role, so a picker’s app shows Pick and nothing else:

Fulfillment is what moves your stock. A pick reduces the bin it came from; a shipped order stops counting as unfulfilled on your dashboards; and if the order came from a sales channel, Fiftify reports the fulfillment back to that channel so the buyer sees it too.
