I cannot see something

Published

A screen, a menu item, or a record has gone missing. Three things hide most of them.

If a colleague cannot see a section of the app that you can, that is usually the role working as intended rather than a fault.

Check: Settings → Users & Roles, open the person, and read what their role grants. See roles and permissions.

A role can also apply in one warehouse and not another. Somebody with Per warehouse access and no role set for a building has no access there at all — see users and invitations.

Most operational screens are scoped to the warehouse selected in the header: orders, tasks, stock, transfers, purchase orders, cycle counts, the boards, the dashboard.

An order placed against warehouse B is invisible while you are looking at warehouse A, and nothing on screen will tell you it exists.

Fix: switch the warehouse picker before concluding a record is missing.

Task queues open on a tab. Lists remember a search. The listings list filters by channel status. A completed task is not on To Do, and a draft listing is not on Active.

Fix: clear the search, and check All before deciding.

An order is scoped to a warehouse through the location on its items. Where a channel location is not mapped to a warehouse, the order it arrives against belongs to nowhere — and is visible from nowhere.

Fix: map the location. See channel settings and locations, and inventory is not syncing for the same cause seen from the other side.

New products have no stock until something puts it there. Stock does not get typed in; it arrives through receiving, through a transfer, or through an adjustment.

A catalogue full of products and a warehouse showing zeroes is a warehouse nothing has been received into yet, not a fault.

Common questions

Why can a colleague not see a section of Fiftify that I can see?
Usually their role, working as intended rather than a fault. A role can also apply in one warehouse and not another, so somebody with per-warehouse access and no role set for a building has no access there at all.
An order exists but nobody can find it. Where is it?
Most operational screens are scoped to the warehouse selected in the header, and an order placed against a different warehouse is invisible with no message saying so. An order whose channel location is mapped to no warehouse belongs to nowhere and is visible from nowhere.
Why does my warehouse show zero stock for products I already have?
Stock is never typed in — it arrives through receiving, through a transfer, or through an adjustment. A full catalogue with a warehouse of zeroes is a warehouse nothing has been received into yet, not a fault.
